Sneaker Pimp

Do people over the age of 16 still wear Chuck Taylors?

Because, well... this is n excellent point. I mean, seriously now. Get a real pair of shoes, people.
That link is from my friend Ervie, who is getting his blogging feet wet. Keep an eye on him. He's shifty.

Also, what's got to thumbs and is super-excited for his four-hour policy meeting this afternoon on a gorgeously warm sunny day?

Some other asshole, I guess.

This is one of the more terrifying webcomics I've ever seen:

So, the response to the country music post was kind of insane... but in a really awesome way. Probably the most comments I've ever received, far too many for me to address/respond to individually. So let me just say to everyone who read and/or commented: THANK YOU. That was amazing, both that people were that interested, and also that I got so many new names to look up as a result. In fact, Ervie (my friend who sort of inspired it, as well as who de-lurked to comment) and I spent a few hours last night throwing back PBR's and geeking out over the whole thing and music in general. So again, let me just say - thanks. You guys rock.

I'm considering on expanding upon the idea... maybe doing something fairly regularly, either here or via a new blog. Something sort of round-table-ish, collaborative, with reader input, multiple authorship, that kind of thing. What do you guys think? Would people be interested in reading/participating? It seems like a cool way to learn about new kinds of music, minus the pretense of, say, Pitchfork. Kind of like Blog Me a Tale, but for music. So what do people think?

Anyway, have a good weekend, folks. Be careful out there.

I'm just catching up with your blogs right now, but count me "in" if we're going to talk about country, or even alt-country or country-influenced music because I am INTO that. I'd also like to pair beers with the music, if that's okay with you...

Dude, I'm serious. Set up the blog and invite me. I'll even take the first post, focusing on late 80's minneapolis alt-country and the influences of that town. Sorry that I "duded" you there. I just got excited.

Jez - the more I think about it, the more I just might. But just to clarify for everyone else - we wouldn't focus on country. We'd do everything - whatever music people write. So whadday'all think?

I like it. I've been trying to find more music related stuff to feature on PL (like the wonderful MixTapeTherapy). I used to plug Pitchfork sometimes, but then y'know, got tired of having to read fucking Pitchfork.

Also: fuck you. I'm wearing my back lowtops as we speak, and I've got a half dozen more pairs of CT's in the closet. And, I'm 30. Nyah.

Sure, yeah, I'm good with all kindsa music. Do I actually need to go to Pitchfork to get an idea what you don't want, or what?

Sounds like a good idea. Just so long as you don't start wearing wire rim glasses and skinny jeans. Cuz that would ruin the sexy.

Hey now, I wear a pair of customized One Stars. What does that make me?

Your site idea is cool. My taste in music is lame, so it's best I just support your efforts with happy thoughts.

TK- Really? Chucks have never been more in fashion in Cali. I credit west coast gangsta rap, Tommy Lee and the hipsters down the road in Hollywood.

Yes, do it. I already participate in a group on 20SB where a group member picks an album and everyone else in the group gets to download it and then we talk about it. Quite nerdy, but awesome.

I checked out that Blog Me A Tale. That's exactly what I want to do - connect the music with a good story.

I think it's a sweet idea. Go for it.
